FAQs

Integrative Wellness & Research Center, Inc

  • What is holistic medicine?

Holistic medicine is a comprehensive healthcare approach that considers the entire person - their mind, body, and spirit - rather than just focusing on specific symptoms or illnesses. This method often incorporates alternative therapies and lifestyle changes, while emphasizing a strong patient-provider relationship to promote overall wellness and balance.
  • What is functional medicine?

Functional medicine is a patient-centered, holistic approach to healthcare that aims to identify and address the root causes of diseases. It takes into account an individual's unique genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. By using a systems-oriented method, functional medicine practitioners work to restore balance and optimal health through personalized interventions such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, and supplements, focusing on long-term wellness rather than just symptom relief.
  • What do you cover in a consultation or what should I expect?

Our consultation process is divided into four main parts. We begin by reviewing your medical history, diagnoses, genetic predispositions, and current lab tests and scans. Next, we schedule additional lab tests to gather more information about your health. These may include tests such as neuro adrenal expanded, organic acid food sensitivity, GI effects stool, genetics typing, advanced lipid panel, advanced antioxidant panel, and blood chemistry including thyroid. We then develop a custom protocol focusing on foundational detoxification, which includes opening detox excretion processes, eradicating overgrowth bacteria, yeast, and parasites, detoxifying toxins and heavy metals, balancing the endocrine system, and rebuilding digestion and gastrointestinal microbiome. Finally, we create a custom dietary program based on your health assessment.
  • Do you take insurance?

We do not accept insurance. However, we strive to work within your budget to help you achieve your health goals. This may involve prioritizing certain supplements to ensure you receive the most essential treatments within your financial means.
  • How long is the consult?

Virtual consultations last up to one hour and include a week of follow-up questions. Office visits are two hours long. In both cases, our team of experienced practitioners and lifestyle educators will guide you towards improved health. The cost is the same for both types of consultations.
  • Why are bioidentical hormones better?

Bioidentical hormones are preferred because they are chemically identical to the hormones naturally produced by the human body. This similarity allows for more efficient recognition and utilization by the body, reducing the risk of side effects and potential long-term health issues associated with synthetic hormones. Additionally, bioidentical hormones can be tailored to meet an individual's specific hormonal needs, resulting in more effective treatment and improved health outcomes.
